Head Scarves

So there's a little girl in Texas who's going through chemo and I wanted to make some head scarves for her.  One is a bandanna style, which I measured and cut a square measuring 19" x 19" and hemmed the edges of, and another has ties - I cut a triangle of fabric, made two ties and hemmed them all together.  I think they came out cute!  I especially like the birdie fabric!

What have you done Wednesday!

This week has been centered mostly around plants and outdoors but I did start a new project.  I took a vintage dress that had some moth holes in the bodice and am turning it into a skirt.  So far I've separeated the top from the bottom and am in the process of creating a waist band with the extra material from the top, then I will add a new zipper and see if the hem length is where I want it.

Inspired by Alabama Chanin. This is a simple A-line skirt, cut on the bias, from two layers of cotton knit: a putty color over black. I freehand painted a favorite quotation on the skirt, then used the techniques in the Alabama Stitch Book for the reverse applique. I love to combine my handlettering with garment design — an experiment in embracing imperfection (especially when I sneezed on the skirt moments before taking the photos. Did you hear me screaming?).

Speaking of patterns....

I came across this link and said to myself "Man I probably have half these patterns in my collection!" but it would take hours to find them.  SO my question is, how do you keep your sewing patterns organized?  I was thinking of making binders.  Putting the patterns in sections of types.  I used to have them organized by Maker & Year but they have since gotten mixed up while looking for certain ones and selling others.  Does anyone else use binders?  Do you just put the cover in a sleeve or the whole pattern.  And how do you catorgorize them?  Give me some ideas here....
